TV Module

The TV module of Site@School is a simple solution to have a kind of message board via a TV set. The TV module enables you to update pages on the TV set.
You can have, for example, an old TV in the hall of the school to display messages, pictures, etc.
Multiple TV sets can be controlled via the TV module. To do this, for every location in school where you have a TV set, you need the following materials:

  • Some computer with an OS (Linux, Mac, Windows) connected to the school network.
  • A web browser installed on the OS (Firefox, Netscape, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc), set to 'Kiosk' mode. In the Kiosk mode the browser has no title bar, no toolbars or menus, no status bar and displays its content full-screen.
  • A TV output on the computer. This is mostly done with a cheap monitor/TV card (also known as a scan converter). In this way you can attach a monitor and a TV set to the computer.
  • A TV set that can accept the output from the TV card. Make sure the combination of TV set and TV card works appropriately.
  • Of course it's also possible to use a flat screen monitor instead of a TV. A flat screen can be connected directly to the computer.

The TV module of Site@School can show pages of S@S in these ways:

  • Show multiple S@S pages.
  • Show one vertically scrolling page.
  • Show an album page from the ALLbum module in a slideshow fashion.
  • Show one Site@School page.
